The platform has quietly unveiled the JioCinema Premium annual plan, which comes one month after the Viacom18-owned streaming service unveiled a monthly membership option that grants users access to 4K quality video streaming free of commercials (except from live events and sports). The annual plan is less expensive than competing services’ offerings and the previously available, but canceled premium package. In the meanwhile, a 50% discount is being offered on the newly introduced annual subscription due to an introductory offer.
The JioCinema website now offers a Premium Annual plan, priced at Rs. 599, and the streaming platform acknowledged the launch of the new plan on Saturday. Customers can take advantage of an initial deal that lowers the price of the membership to Rs. 299 by 50%. Users will be charged the entire amount by the platform when the first 12-month billing cycle ends.
On one device, the JioCinema Premium Annual subscription delivers the same features as the monthly plan, including ad-free 4K HD video streaming of premium content from Peacock, Warner Bros., HBO, and Paramount. In order to see content offline, users can also download and stream it on their smartphone.
While all three streaming options will provide ad-free viewing, live events and other sports, like the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket competition, will still feature commercials.
The Premium Annual plan, which now costs Rs. 299, is a far better deal than the Premium Monthly plan, which costs Rs. 59 to renew. In addition, the new Premium Annual plan is significantly less expensive than the previous annual subscription option, which was terminated last month and cost Rs. 999.
With an introductory deal that reduced the subscription price to Rs. 89 for the first month, JioCinema debuted a Premium Family subscription last month, priced at Rs. 149. No information has been released on the company’s intentions to provide an annual Premium Family subscription plan.
JioCinema’s monthly subscription costs just Rs. 59, which is less than those of Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Amazon Prime Video. Netflix has a mobile-only plan that starts at Rs. 149 per month. Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video have monthly subscription fees of Rs. 299 each, and a yearly rate of Rs. 1,499 for both streaming services.
